As a tribute to the late, great Angela Lansbury, the show business legend who died recently at the age of 97, the Anniversary Classics Series presents the 60th anniversary of her finest screen performance in THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE. The film is coincidentally one of the all-time great political thrillers, and among the top tier of the best films of 1962. Lansbury picked up her third Academy Award nomination for the role, and her chilling performance is ranked among the American Film Institute’s top 100 screen villains.
THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE shows one night only Wednesday, November 16 at 7:00 PM at the Laemmle Royal Theatre in West Los Angeles. Special introduction by Anniversary Classics Series co-producers and the authors of Cinema ’62: The Greatest Year at the Movies, Stephen Farber and Michael McClellan, who will reminisce about Lansbury’s visit with us in 2018 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Death on the Nile and discuss both The Manchurian Candidate and her notable film career.
